About This Episode
What is this episode about?
The episode "Wormwood (Repost)" from Conspiracy! The Show covers the Netflix documentary series Wormwood, which chronicles the possible suicide or probable execution of CIA employee Frank Olson. The episode is a repost, originally recorded and released in 2018, and runs 60 minutes. Adam Tod Brown is joined by Connor to walk through the documentary's account of Olson's death and the questions it raises about what really happened to him.
The case behind the episode
The episode centers on the Frank Olson-sagen — CIA-videnskabsmands mystiske dødsfald, which concerns Frank Olson, a 43-year-old American biological warfare researcher who fell to his death from a hotel window in New York in 1953. The fall came after Olson had been secretly dosed with LSD by the CIA, a detail that has fueled decades of speculation about whether his death was a suicide or something far more deliberate. The Wormwood documentary series examines this history, and the episode uses it as the jumping-off point for a discussion of what is known and unknown about Olson's final days.
