Down the Hill: The Story of the Delphi Murders
A new Hulu series revisits one of the most high-profile murder cases in recent American history
On February 13, 2017, two young girls, Abby Williams and Libby German, were found dead in Delphi, Indiana. The tragic case would go on to become one of the most closely watched murder investigations in the United States — and it is now the subject of the new Hulu series Down the Hill: The Delphi Murders.
A Two-Part Documentary
The series spans two episodes and walks viewers through the key evidence that proved decisive in solving the case. Among the most significant pieces of evidence was a grainy photograph and an audio recording recovered from one of the girls' phones. On the recording, a voice can be heard ordering the girls "down the hill" — words that gave the series its title. These materials became central to the police investigation and helped bring detectives closer to identifying a suspect.
Conviction and Sentence
Richard Allen was subsequently charged with the double murder and sentenced to 130 years in prison. A key piece of physical evidence in the case was a bullet found between the bodies of the two girls. Ballistics experts determined that the bullet matched Allen's firearm, a finding that proved critical during the trial.
Inside the Investigation
Down the Hill documents the details of this shocking case and offers viewers a closer look at the police work that ultimately made it possible to solve the murders.
