"Tolnebandens forsvundne offer" ("The Tolne Gang's Missing Victim") is an episode of the Danish true crime podcast Danske Drabssager ("Danish Homicide Cases"), in which crime reporter Stine Bolther walks through a killing from 1988 that ended with a body being concealed in a highly unusual place.

The events unfolded at a country property already surrounded by local legend, where three drunken men allowed a burning desire for revenge to turn into violence and brutality. The case itself began with something far smaller: a tip written down on a scrap of paper. From there it grew into one of those investigations that has since earned a place in criminal history, because detectives were forced to think outside the box in order to locate the body of the missing man.

The episode follows the close cooperation between forensic technicians, homicide detectives and forensic pathologists as they tried to map out where the dead man's remains had been hidden. Particular weight is given to the very distinctive hiding place that eventually became the turning point of the entire case.

Host and contributors

Stine Bolther presents the episode as part of Danske Drabssager, a podcast in which the crime reporter takes real homicide cases from beginning to end with the help of experts who were close to them.

This instalment features Bent Isager-Nielsen, former head of homicide at Rejseholdet, Denmark's national mobile police investigation unit; forensic technician Bent Hytholm Jensen; Hans Petter Hougen, professor of forensic medicine; and former prosecutor Jeanette Wincentz Andersen. Each brings a different perspective on the investigation, the forensic pathology and the crime scene work that underpinned the case.

The episode runs for 31 minutes and can be found alongside the other releases from Danske Drabssager.
