About This Episode
"Vidne til dødsvold ved storskærm: Sådan opstod slagsmålet" ("Witness to Fatal Violence at the Big Screen: How the Fight Started") is an episode of the Danish true crime podcast Sagen Genåbnet, in which a central witness describes what he saw at a big-screen World Cup event on Islands Brygge, a waterfront area of Copenhagen, last summer. A Swedish police officer died at the event.
The witness both filmed the sequence of events and gave a statement to police. He now steps forward in the podcast with his own version of what happened.
His reason for speaking publicly is that, in his view, media reports and political statements have painted an inaccurate picture of what led up to the death. He wants his account and his recordings made public so that a more nuanced understanding of the build-up to the fight can emerge. The episode gives him the space to describe how, as he sees it, the situation at the big screen actually developed that day.
Sagen Genåbnet is a Danish true crime podcast that digs into unsolved killings and reopens old cases using modern investigative techniques. It is hosted by Jesper Vestergaard Larsen and Sanne Fahnøe.
This is episode 216. It runs 28 minutes and was published in October 2026. The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and several other platforms.
