"Trafikvrede endte i dødsfald (1:2)" — "Road rage ended in death" — is an episode of Bag om forbrydelsen ("Behind the Crime"), a weekly Danish true crime podcast hosted by Carsten Nymann and Jesper Ramsing. It reconstructs a confrontation between two strangers on the motorway toward Aalborg in July 2024 that left a 67-year-old man dead of his injuries the following day.
The two men were driving separate cars toward Aalborg and did not know one another. Shortly before the Limfjord Tunnel — the motorway tunnel running beneath the Limfjord waterway at Aalborg in northern Denmark — the dispute between them broke into the open. After roughly three kilometres of traffic altercation, both drivers left the motorway and stopped on a gravel parking area, where the conflict escalated into a violent confrontation.
A 60-year-old man has since been charged with assault resulting in death, a charge under Danish law covering violence that leads to a fatal outcome without an intent to kill. The episode does not dwell on the question of who inflicted the violence — on that point there is no doubt. Instead, the hosts focus on precisely how the violence unfolded, and on whether it may have amounted to nødværge, the Danish legal concept of self-defence.
That makes the case an unusually difficult one. It sits in the grey zone between road rage, violent assault against a person, and the legal questions about self-defence that frequently arise when both parties have contributed to an escalating conflict. The episode works through what is known about the sequence of events on the gravel parking area and what that sequence may mean for how the charge is assessed.
