Rejseholdet: Denmark's Cold Case Unit Hunting Killers
A Danish docudrama series follows the national mobile police unit working to solve unsolved murders spanning nearly two decades
TV 2 Dokumentar launched the docudrama series Rejseholdet – jagten på en morder (The Mobile Unit – Hunting a Killer) in January 2018, shining a light on some of Denmark's most complex unsolved murder cases.
About the series
The series spans eight episodes across two seasons. The first season of four episodes aired from January 11, 2018, while the second season followed on February 13, 2020, also with four episodes.
The subject matter centers on cold case murders investigated by Rigspolitiets Rejseafdeling — Denmark's national mobile police unit, a specialist team that can be deployed across the country to assist with serious crimes. The unit's work on four unsolved homicide cases from the period 1986 to 2002 forms the backbone of the series.
Inside the investigations
Journalists and interviewers Camilla Rytz and Sara Munch Aabenhus guide viewers through the investigations, drawing on archival material as well as fresh perspectives on each case. The format gives audiences a rare look into the painstaking and often lengthy process of police cold case investigations in Denmark.
Behind the camera
The series was directed and edited by Kristian Frederiksen, David Rue, and Teddy Bruslund. Their structuring of complex, multi-year criminal narratives into accessible docudrama form has drawn both critical attention and a broad audience.
