Baker Street Korpset – Sagen om pengeafpresserne
About the book
Baker Street Korpset - Sagen om pengeafpresserne follows a group of young street children who help Sherlock Holmes solve crimes in Victorian London. In this case, the corps takes on a ring of blackmailers terrorising the city's residents.
Terrance Dicks, best known for his work on Doctor Who, created this youth-friendly series building on Arthur Conan Doyle's universe. The Baker Street Korpset - also known as the Baker Street Irregulars - was Sherlock Holmes' network of street children, who appeared in the original stories as informants.
In Dicks' version, the young detectives take centre stage, carrying out their own investigations under Holmes' guidance. The blackmail case forces the corps to infiltrate London's underworld, gather evidence, and expose the criminals behind it all.
The book is aimed primarily at children and young readers with an interest in classic detective work. Dicks manages to combine suspense with the historical atmosphere of 19th-century London, a city shaped by poverty and crime on every street corner.
As part of a larger series about the Baker Street Korpset, this book works both as a standalone crime story and as an introduction to the Sherlock Holmes universe for younger readers.
