Five robbers attacked Kim Kardashian in Paris

Reality star Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in a luxury apartment in the 8th arrondissement of Paris in the early hours of October 3, 2016 — during Paris Fashion Week.

Armed men disguised as police

Five men, some of them disguised as police officers, broke into her room. They threatened her with weapons, bound her arms and legs with tape, and gagged her while they carried out the robbery.

The thieves made off with jewelry worth approximately nine million euros. Among the stolen items was her engagement ring, which featured an 18.88-carat diamond.

"I thought I would be killed"

In court, Kardashian testified that she experienced extreme fear during the attack. She told the court she was convinced she would either be killed or raped.

Sentences fell short of prosecutors' demands

Five men were ultimately convicted in connection with the robbery. Prosecutors had originally sought sentences of between six and ten years in prison, but the court handed down sentences of up to three years. Only two of the five defendants entered guilty pleas, even though prosecutors maintained that all five had been involved in the attack.
