Bandidos
International motorcycle club and Hells Angels' opponent in the Nordic biker war
Bandidos is an international motorcycle club and biker organisation that, in a Danish true crime context, is known primarily as the opponent of Hells Angels during the Great Nordic Biker War of 1994–1997 — a violent territorial conflict that cost several lives and left a marked imprint on Danish criminal history. The organisation originated in the United States in 1966 and expanded into Europe in the 1990s. In Denmark, Bandidos established itself in the mid-1990s and almost immediately came into open conflict with Hells Angels, which already held an established position in the Danish biker scene. The conflict escalated into a full gang war involving shootings, bomb attacks and killings — including the widely reported killing at Kastrup Airport in 1996 and a series of other biker murders documented in Danish criminal cases.
Police have described Bandidos as one of the gang groupings in Denmark most prepared to use violence. Over the years the organisation has been the subject of extensive police efforts, including investigations into organised crime, and the authorities have worked to restrict its activities. In 2024 the Danish National Police issued a preliminary administrative ban against the organisation, and the case was heard at the District Court in Helsingør — one of the most far-reaching legal steps Danish authorities have taken against a biker organisation.
In the true crime narrative of the biker war, Bandidos appears not as a legal institution but as a criminal actor whose internal hierarchy, territorial ambitions and use of violence formed the framework for several of the most serious cases in Danish criminal history. Members of the organisation have been convicted by the courts of offences including murder, attempted murder and weapons possession in connection with the biker conflict.
