For eight years, she had been confined in a soundproof basement room of just five square meters. Wolfgang Priklopil exercised both physical and psychological violence against her, but she still managed to maintain a strong self-awareness, which was crucial for her survival. After the escape, Wolfgang Priklopil committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a train before the police could apprehend him.
