The documentary series Lasermannen follows John Ausonius's campaign of terror in Stockholm between 1991 and 1992, during which he shot 11 people of immigrant background, killing one. The series covers the extensive investigation that ultimately led to Ausonius's arrest.

John Ausonius earned the nickname "Lasermannen" ("The Laser Man") because police initially believed he was using a laser weapon, given the precision of his shots. In reality, he used a rifle fitted with a laser sight to hit his victims, whom he selected at random based on their appearance.

SVT's dramatized documentary series from 2010 offers insight into both the perpetrator and the intense manhunt that unfolded in the Swedish capital. The series sheds light on the fear and uncertainty that gripped Stockholm during this period, as well as the police work that eventually led to Ausonius's arrest in June 1992.

John Ausonius was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and attempted murders. The case remains one of Sweden's most notorious criminal cases and marked a turning point in the country's understanding of hate crimes and far-right violence.

The series is available on SVT's platform and offers a nuanced portrait of one of Scandinavia's most shocking criminal cases.
