A&E's Bunny Ranch Documentary Exposes Dennis Hof's Dark Legacy
New six-part series reveals allegations of abuse, trafficking, and violence behind the famous Nevada brothel
A&E's six-part documentary series 'Secrets of the Bunny Ranch' premiered on June 12, 2025, pulling back the curtain on one of America's most infamous legal brothels. The series features extensive interviews with more than 20 former workers at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Mound House, Nevada—many speaking publicly for the first time about their experiences under the ownership of Dennis Hof.
For nearly two decades, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch was synonymous with excess and celebrity. HBO's 'Cathouse' series (2005-2014) presented a glamorous, party-focused image of the Nevada brothel, showcasing its high-profile events and seemingly carefree atmosphere. But according to former employees interviewed in the A&E documentary, this public perception masked a toxic and dangerous environment.
Former workers recount allegations of bullying, humiliation, manipulation, sexual assault, and violence. The documentary details how Hof allegedly created a culture where women felt trapped and exploited. Interviews reveal that celebrities given "carte blanche" access added to an atmosphere of impunity. According to allegations presented in the series, Hof thrived on violence and showed a preference for "younger, small girls."
The six-episode first season explores several interconnected narratives. Episode 4, titled "The Cathouse Murders," examines the brutal murder of a young Bunny Ranch worker in Oklahoma City—a crime that Hof exploited for media attention. Episode 5, "The Lamar Odom Party," details the near-death drug overdose of former NBA Lakers player Lamar Odom during a party at a Nevada brothel. The final episode, "Too Close to the Sun," connects Hof's political ambitions—he ran for Nevada State Legislature—to the secrets that threatened to derail his public image.
