The Widow's Death

The Danish podcast Mørkeland has released Episode 307, focusing on two separate cases involving death and severe neglect. The episode examines circumstances where individuals were subject to dangerous living conditions and inadequate care.

On the night before Halloween 1975, fifteen-year-old Martha Moxley was bludgeoned to death outside her family home in Belle Haven, Greenwich, Connecticut. Twenty-seven years later, her killer—Michael Skakel, a Kennedy family cousin who was also fifteen at the time—was convicted in a 2002 trial that captivated the nation and raised uncomfortable questions about wealth, privilege, and the American legal system.

An 81-year-old widow was murdered in her Herlev home during the 2011 Christmas holidays in Denmark. The case mobilized homicide investigators, forensic technicians, and medical examiners who immediately suspended their vacation to pursue the investigation into what was described as a heartless act.
