Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., the prolific serial offender who terrorized California for a decade, was arrested in 2018 at age 72 after investigators used pioneering genetic genealogy techniques to identify him as the Golden State Killer.

Golden State Killer: Final Chapter (Crown, 2025) documents Joseph James DeAngelo's reign of terror in California from the 1970s to the 1980s. The book depicts the over 50 rapes and 13 murders committed by the former police officer, who was caught through groundbreaking DNA genealogy.

Jensen & Holes: The Murder Squad launched in 2019 as a collaboration between investigative journalist Billy Jensen and retired cold case investigator Paul Holes. The podcast quickly topped charts by tackling unsolved murders and missing persons cases, but imploded in 2022 after allegations of sexual misconduct against Jensen surfaced.
