"HYRET TIL INDBRUD – Usynlig fjende del 1" ("Hired to Break In – Invisible Enemy, Part 1") is an episode of the Danish podcast Danske Kriminalsager, hosted by journalist and author Thea Pedersen. Its subject is digital investigator and IT security expert Jan Kaastrup, whose work sets him apart from most others in the IT security field: he is a hacker himself, hired by banks and companies to commit legal break-ins into their own systems.

The aim of those authorised intrusions is to locate the single security flaw that would otherwise give cybercriminals a way in — access that can be used to steal data, shut systems down and demand millions in ransom. In the conversation with Kaastrup, the episode sets out how legal hacking functions as a defence mechanism against digital crime, and what role IT experts play against opponents who never appear in person but who can paralyse an entire organisation through one gap in its security.

The episode is the first of two that together examine what the podcast calls the invisible enemy in cybercrime: the techniques and methods criminals use, and how a company can uncover its own weaknesses before someone else exploits them.

Danske Kriminalsager ("Danish Criminal Cases") is a podcast that digs into significant criminal cases and examines what they have meant for police investigative methods and for the Danish justice system. This episode runs 35 minutes and is number 3 in the series.

Host: Thea Pedersen, journalist and author. Guest: Jan Kaastrup, digital investigator and security expert.
