About This Episode
What is this episode about?
The episode "Listen Now— Over My Dead Body: Operation Sideswipe" from American Scandal is a short preview introducing a new series about a Hollywood stuntwoman turned personal injury attorney, a disbarred lawyer with a hidden past, and a fraud scheme that ends in murder.
Vanessa Motta leaves behind a career staging fake car crashes in Hollywood and becomes a personal injury lawyer in New Orleans. Her law career struggles until she meets Sean Alfortish, a charming former lawyer who offers her office space and becomes her mentor despite having served prison time for fraud. The two fall for each other, and Sean introduces Vanessa to Cornelius Garrison, one of the city's most prolific case runners. Garrison brings Vanessa a steady stream of accident victims ready to sue — except the accidents are staged. As the money flows in, the scheme eventually unravels, and someone pays the ultimate price.
This preview sets up Operation Sideswipe, described as a six-part series about greed, betrayal, and who gets sacrificed when a criminal enterprise collapses under its own weight. The full story is told across the series titled Over My Dead Body, reported and hosted by Mitch Moxley.
