The Fact of a Body

Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich braids the Louisiana case of convicted child-killer Ricky Langley with her own family's suppressed history of sexual abuse, colliding the two stories with accumulating force. The genre-bending hybrid memoir confronts capital punishment, the fallibility of memory and the moral impossibility of clean answers when victim and perpetrator histories entangle.
