A Thread of Violence

Mark O'Connell examines Malcolm Macarthur, the genteel, well-educated Dubliner whose brutal 1982 double murder scandalized Ireland and brought down a government minister. Through extensive interviews with the killer himself, the book probes self-deception, class privilege and the deeply unsettling ordinariness of a man capable of sudden, catastrophic violence.
