"Afsløret #1: Hvor er Farhad? – del 1" is the first episode of Afsløret, a Danish true crime podcast produced by the regional newspaper Vejle Amts Folkeblad, in which journalists investigate criminal cases that have left deep marks on their own part of the country. The episode opens a two-part account of the disappearance of 16-year-old Farhad Tober.
On 9 April 2022, the teenager vanished into a wooded area in Grejsdalen, near the city of Vejle in Denmark, after a confrontation with police. South East Jutland Police (Sydøstjyllands Politi, the regional force covering the area) issued a public appeal for information about him, but stated at the same time that they did not suspect he had been the victim of a crime. That message became the starting point for a case marked by mystery and rising temperatures.
The case gained new momentum on 8 October 2023, when DR, the Danish public service broadcaster, aired the documentary "Forfulgt af politiet?" ("Hounded by the Police?"). In it, Farhad Tober's family came forward with claims that they were being systematically harassed by the local police, and said they had no idea where the teenage boy was.
The episode puts the central question directly: in a case with one twist after another, what is fact and what is fiction? Journalists Zarah Leth Grothe and Nicklas Ansbjerg Nielsen go through the material together with host Maria Frellesen Pedersen across two episodes.
