The Blekingegade Gang 1: The Danish Cell

The Blekingegade Gang 1: The Danish Cell is about the Danish terrorist group that, during the 1970s and 1980s, carried out a series of spectacular robberies and heists to support the Palestinian liberation front PFLP. The book covers the Blekingegade Gang case, which culminated in the police raid on Blekingegade in Copenhagen in 1989.

Through extensive research and interviews, Peter Øvig Knudsen has created a monumental work that uncovers the gang's structure, ideology and criminal activities. The first volume focuses on the Danish cell - the group of Danish revolutionaries who, driven by idealistic motives, embarked on a violent struggle for international socialism.

The book describes in detail how the gang planned and carried out robberies against banks, a post office and cash transports, and how they built an extensive network of supporters and sympathizers. Knudsen gets close to the central figures and their motives, while placing their actions within the political context of the Cold War.

The Blekingegade Gang 1 received the Weekendavisen Literature Prize, awarded by the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen, and was later followed by volumes 2 and 3, which together form the most comprehensive documentation of one of Denmark's most spectacular criminal cases ever.
